Scope
Key features included the fitout of two consulting rooms, clinical areas, a reception/waiting area, treatment room, surgery, pharmacy, dog wards, a staff area with a toilet, laundry and tea room, and the necessary provisions for X-ray equipment. An oxygen system and scavenge system was also installed.
There were a variety of challenges associated with the project, including working with an incredibly tight site in terms of managing the space and trades access. As there was a residential apartment above, disruption needed to be minimised, and restoration/make good works needed to be done on the ceiling and inter tenancy walls.
Due to the dual domestic and commercial use, fire separation had to be upgraded to the unit above to bring the building into compliance with current building code requirements.
Design
The client’s vision was for a stylish, contemporary design that suited the location in Sydney’s resurgent North Shore, as well as meeting the practical and logistical requirements of a modern veterinary practice. The client’s brief included the use of light timber and a sand and olive green palette to exude a “Scandi” feel.
