The design of your dental clinic can play a key role in helping put your patients at ease and encourage them to keep coming back. Adding colour, texture and personality into your dental practice design can create a warm and welcoming space that doesn’t look – or feel – clinical.
Here are three dental fitout projects delivered by Elite over the past year that have a real “wow” factor.
After fitting out their first dental clinic six years ago, Elite was engaged once again by Pure Dentistry to extend their practice. The extension and refurbishment project has seen the practice footprint more than double to 187sqm, adding three more surgeries, an extra sterilisation area and larger reception and waiting area.
Elite commenced the first stage of the project in the empty adjacent tenancy. The space was demolished and rebuilt, adding more dental surgeries, steri, CBCT/CEPH area, office and staff facilities.
To ensure the clinic continued operating during the refurbishment, temporary walls, reception and waiting areas were created in this adjacent tenancy. A temporary entrance to the practice was also constructed, with directional signage for entry and exit into the newly constructed section of the clinic.
Once the new section of the practice was constructed, the second stage of the project commenced. This included integrating the extension with the existing practice, as well as redeveloping the front of house waiting area and staff room.
The dental practice features cool colours, light timber flooring, downlights and under cabinet lighting. Mason oak timber battens are a key design element, used on both the reception desk and as a feature wall behind the divan seating in the waiting area.
A grey colour palette in the waiting area complements the timber and white walls, with dark grey furnishings and plush, light-coloured carpet. A key highlight in the waiting area is the fish tank, which provides a calming feel to the space. Acoustic wall panels were added in the hallway to buffer any noise as well as provide a stylish feature for patients to view on the way to their appointment.
A picture paints a thousand words. I always show people the photos of my practice. No need to explain when something is so good.
Ian Mason – Owner, Pure Dentistry
Husband and wife dentists Linh and Greg had provided dental services to the local Chelmer community and the surrounding areas for 10 years before deciding to start their own dental clinic.
They chose a stand-alone building that had most recently been used as a hair salon, and appointed Elite to design and convert the premises into a dental practice.
The 250sqm clinic has three dental surgeries, lab/steri room, reception and waiting area, staff amenities and office area.
Much of the design inspiration for the fitout comes from the Chelmer Dental logo. The leafy elements in the logo tie the surroundings, the leafy suburb of Chelmer and the building together. The building is surrounded by greenery – as is the whole suburb – and a tree pattern features prominently across the wooden floorboards. Two new windows were added to the surgery areas. These windows allow natural light to flow into those areas, as well as providing views of the trees outside.
The teal green from the logo also features throughout the practice, from a wall in the reception area to the doors to the dental surgery and amenities. The colour beautifully offsets the marble-look reception desk and timber floors.
Elite repaired and polished the wooden floors, bringing the original designs back to life. The flooring is a great feature for the clinic, extending from the main reception and waiting areas to the hallway. Many patients comment on how unique and beautiful it is.
The overhead lighting in the dental surgeries continues the natural design theme, featuring trees and leaves. Different images feature in skylights on the ceilings of each surgery. Trees featured include a Jacaranda, Liquid Amber, blue skies and Japanese Gingko tree.
It felt like every member of Elite was “on call“ for us and we were so happy and grateful for how accessible and helpful they all were. We would highly recommend them.

Elite was engaged by dentist Katie Wilson to complete the design and fitout of her very first dental clinic. The project included fitting out two dental surgeries (with space for another dental surgery to accommodate future growth), OPG room, steri/lab area, office, and staff amenities.
The design of this Sunshine Coast dental practice is unmistakably beachy. The predominantly white colour scheme is bright and airy and offers a very calming atmosphere.
The reception area is uncluttered and welcoming, with a marble-look reception desk adding an elegant touch to the space. The turquoise, blue and white sandy colours from the White Sands Dental logo inject a pop of colour to the reception area and adds to the clinic’s coastal design theme. VJ panelling features on the reception and waiting room walls, with light flooring and Tasmanian oak cabinets completing the coastal feel.
In the dental surgeries, the oak cabinetry and white walls contrast well with the black accents on the dental equipment and furniture. The light-coloured infection-control grade linoleum flooring adds to the calming feel of the surgery rooms.
The clinic’s shopfront extends the beachy feel of the interior to the outside, with a pale blue and white wave motif and signage. The large glass windows and doors also help to showcase the clean lines when you enter the clinic.
We had a wonderful experience with Elite. Have already recommended them to a few other professionals and we will certainly use them if we open a second practice.
