A Medical Clinic Transformation: SEQSEM Design Showcase

Allow us to introduce you to our recent design and fitout project in Varsity Lakes – South East Queensland Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEQSEM). This project’s primary objective was to achieve an harmonious balance between the client’s need for operational functionality as well their desire for patients to feel as if they are in a sanctuary of well-being and care.

Interior Design and Layout

We adopted a minimalist approach in the selection of materials and finishes for various surfaces within the environment. The subdued palette of warm whites, soft beige, and complementary neutrals contribute to the overall aesthetic and tactile experience while maintaining a sense of coherence essential for fostering a sense of well-being and quality care.

One of the key design features is the central hallway, which not only connects waiting areas but also guides patients through its elegant curves to the Treatment spaces. Greenery is integrated into planter boxes and bulkheads, bringing a touch of nature indoors. Natural travertine tiles grace the reception desk, while locally crafted wall light fixtures contribute an organic and handcrafted appeal to the space. Venetian plaster, timber-grained laminates, and recessed LED strip lighting are strategically incorporated to create a luxurious ambiance, rich in visual interest, warmth, and texture. The amalgamation of these elements results in a sophisticated atmosphere, aligning the clinic’s delivery of exceptional specialist healthcare with a well-being environment.

The clinic, spanning 155m2, offers uninterrupted vistas of Varsity Lake from every consultation room thanks to full-height external glazing. In the staffroom, a corner view overlooking the water provides a serene escape when sitting at the kitchen bar. The clinical sterilisation room and treatment area are thoughtfully situated side by side behind the reception and administrative zone, ensuring seamless workflow and patient care.
