Undertaking a refurbishment of your practice doesn’t necessarily mean you have to close your doors during the project. In most cases, with some careful planning, your practice can continue to function throughout renovation work.
We take a look at what it takes for your practice to remain open and maintain “business as usual” during a refurbishment.
Start Planning Early
Well before your refurbishment commences, you need to start planning. Your fitout team will help you understand how each part of the project could impact your practice operations. By being aware of when – and where – building works are scheduled across your premises, you can temporarily relocate activities within the clinic while the construction areas are unavailable. This type of planning helps you to implement any necessary workarounds for future stages of the work.
Ask lots of questions and explain any concerns early on. This will ensure that any potential problems can be solved before the project gets underway.
Go For Experience
To maintain business continuity and help to mitigate the potential loss of income that may accompany renovation works, everything needs to run smoothly and to plan. Poor planning could severely impact your business being able to continue to service your patients. So, it pays to choose a fitout company experienced in undertaking healthcare and veterinary practice extensions and refurbishment works, who know the importance of keeping your practice open.
At Elite Fitout Solutions, we have years of experience assisting many clients with refurbishments while their business continues to operate. With this expertise we can effectively plan all works to ensure there is minimal impact on your business.
Stage The Project
Scheduling your refurbishment over several stages ensures that your practice can continue to function throughout construction. By having various aspects of the fitout completed in carefully isolated stages, you’ll be able to treat patients during your practice refurbishment. This is not just important for you, but for your patients as well.
Elite Fitout completed the extension and refurbishment of Bundaberg South Vet as a staged project. The decision to expand the vet clinic was prompted by the increasing demand for veterinary services for cats.
The project saw the vet practice expand from 191sqm to 310sqm and was completed in two stages.
The first stage of the project involved the demolition, fitout, and integration of the adjacent tenancy into the existing practice, so we created the extra space first. This extra space allowed for three more consulting rooms to be added, as well as a new cat ISO area, and a dedicated cat treatment room.
Stage two of the project saw the reconfiguration of some sections of the original clinic to create a new dog ward, dog grooming, dental and dog ISO – all separate from the cat area. With the pharmacy, staff room and breakout area already relocated, there was room to add another surgery, larger sterilisation/lab area, new dental treatment area, and a bigger laundry.
Bundaberg South Vet co-owner Rue Mukandi was delighted with the final result.
“We will forever be grateful to the Elite team for indulging our ideas, mapping them out on paper and bringing them to reality. We highly recommend these guys. They will make your dreams come true.”
